Today we’re going to be talking about how you can get a video of your car wreck. Now I will say in most cases, you’re just kind of out of luck. But I have found a few instances in which clients were able to obtain video of the car wreck that was really able to help out their case.
And one of the primary ways that I’ve had clients do this is after the wreck, they kind of looked around the scene to see if any businesses in the area may have had security cameras.
Now in the past, the best places that I have found for security cameras have been gas stations. A lot of people might not think about it, but gas stations a lot of the time have very, very good video footage.
Now I know QuikTrip, for instance, they have very high definition cameras that can capture quite a bit of detail and by reaching out to the business, the first thing that my clients did, they just asked the person, “Hey, do you happen to have video cameras that may have caught the motor vehicle collision?”
And at that point, the business can maybe talk to you or bare minimum, maybe just preserve the video, because a lot of those businesses will just delete the video after a certain amount of time if they don’t know that there’s anything important on it. So that’s always one thing to keep in mind after a motor vehicle collision is just kind of look around and see if maybe there are any security cameras.
